About Story Walking

Story Walking promotes active nature and spiritual learning for people of all ages. Over the past fifteen years, environmental educator Wendy Nadherny Fachon has collaborated with schools, teachers, environmental educators, and local businesses to deliver creative programs for youth. Wendy has developed and facilitated ecological science programs in urban, woodland, and salt marsh environments. In 2019, she launched the Story Walking Radio Hour podcast series to educate and inspire a larger audience.

In 2020, when the pandemic disrupted in-person learning, Wendy conceived the virtual Nature Drawing Habitat Learning Series for The Empowerment Factory and helped facilitate teacher training. Some children enjoyed the program so much that they enrolled multiple times. More than 500 students participated in the program free of charge before funding challenges interrupted its momentum.

Wendy continues to keep a personal nature journal and writes articles about children's health, outdoor learning, and sustainable living for Natural Awakenings magazine and Dreamvisions7Radio Network's Sustainable Living News. She is a permaculture gardener, children's author, and avid reader. Wendy understands how technology has transformed education, sometimes with unintended consequences, and she is passionate about helping children rediscover a love of books, storytelling, creative writing, and meaningful connections with nature.
