Wendy Nadherny Fachon has more than 15 years of experience in environmental education, therapeutic storytelling, and developing learning resources for children. In 2011, she began leading afterschool walking clubs in urban communities, guided by her belief that every walk has the potential to inspire curiosity, emotional growth, discovery, and transformation.
Through nature journaling and writing about her daily walking experiences, Wendy discovered how nature-inspired storytelling could encourage children’s imaginations, cultivate curiosity, deepen their appreciation for the mystery of life, and help them form meaningful connections with the world around them. Her work with children also showed her how shared outdoor experiences can build mutual understanding, compassion, kindness, and friendship.
These experiences led Wendy to create Story Walking resources centered on emotional learning, language literacy, environmental awareness, mindful living, and healing through nature. She developed The Angel Heart storybook, Teacher’s Lesson Plan, and Student Activity Workbook to help parents, teachers, and children build a strong foundation for nature-based learning, creative expression, and emotional growth.
Wendy is a staff writer for Natural Awakenings magazine and the host of the Story Walking Radio Hour on the Dreamvisions 7 Radio Network. She also researched, wrote, and co-taught a Nature Drawing curriculum series for The Empowerment Factory in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. In this program, students drew threatened species, listened to each animal’s survival story, and learned practical actions they could take to support species and habitat conservation.
In a world that often moves too quickly and mindlessly, Wendy reminds us to slow down, notice the birds, bees, and flowers, and remember that we are all connected to the mysterious, beautiful rhythm of life.
Every story, every journey, and every moment is crafted with intention to nurture healing, foster connection, and inspire environmental stewardship.
